“Hotline Miami Theme” & “Bad Ending” to appear in cult smash Hotline Miami 2

Performed under his pseudonym Benny Smiles, Ross Fortune’s 80s influenced electro tracks “Hotline Miami Theme” and “Bad Ending” will be featured in the upcoming video game Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. The game is the highly anticipated sequel to the enormously successful cult shooter Hotline Miami (2012), which sold over 170,000 copies in the first 7 weeks of its release.

The first Hotline Miami title was greeted with an ecstatic public and critical reception, receiving a Metacritic score of 85, and IGN awards for Best Overall Music and Best Overall Sound. Check out the official trailer here. Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is anticipated for release in September 2014.

The Hotline Miami 2 official sound track album will be distributed internationally as a limited edition vinyl release, as well as on iTunes, Spotify and all major digital distributors.

“Tina” ranking in national airplay charts

Tina“, the latest single by Dublin electro outfit VANN MUSIC is making waves on national radio this summer. The single was produced and mixed by Ross Fortune, and on at the last count reached no. 7 (the only independent act in the top 50) in the national airplay charts. The track is playlisted on all major stations nationwide including RTE 2FM, FM104, 98FM, Q102, Beat 102-103, Spin South West and iRadio. Check out the official music video here.

“Alive” wins first place in Made in Temple Bar competition

Congratulations to director Traolach ó Mhurchú, whose short film “Alive” has scooped first prize in Filmbase‘s “Made in Temple Bar” competition. Scored by Ross Fortune, the short depicts the area’s multi-faceted personality through a montage of colourful scenes, celebrating 25 years of Dublin’s cultural quarter. Ross Fortune Profile Shot

Ross Fortune is a Dublin based producer, mixing engineer and composer. He has produced music and sound for video games, television, film, adverts for well-known national and global brands, and popular music for national radio.

In 2008 Ross graduated from the highly regarded University College Dublin School of Music. He began his career as a freelance composer and creative sound designer writing music for short films and commercial campaigns for clients including Renault, Radió Telefís Éireann (RTÉ), the Irish Film Institute, and The Porterhouse Brewing Company. In 2013, he began exploring the world of interactive media and video game sound. His work has since appeared in the global cult hit video game Hotline Miami 2 and other popular titles on a variety of platforms. He has produced and mixed for established Irish artists including VANN MUSIC, Ham Sandwich’s Niamh Farrell, and Benny Smiles.

Ross is an Avid certified Pro Tools operator, and began teaching music production and recording technology after graduating from UCD. He eventually founded his own registered sound training centre Secret Sound in 2011, where he continues to lecture music production in Pro Tools, Ableton Live and Logic Pro.

Ross specialises in blending electronic and organic instrumental elements with orchestral textures to create diverse and evocative music, soundscapes and sound design. He composes in many musical styles and is equally confident producing pop music, electronic scores or orchestral and instrumental works. His technical prowess with cutting edge recording and mixing technology, combined with classical training and a high level of proficiency on multiple instruments have allowed him to produce highly personal work and develop a unique creative voice.
